HSE will be exhibiting, as well as recruiting at Jobs Expo Cork on 14th May at Cork City Hall. The Home Support Service provided by the HSE aims to support older people to live in their own homes for as long as possible. This service has a purpose of enabling the older person to maintain as much independence as they can and to provide assistance where required with various activities of daily living. The service is delivered under the governance of the Public Health Nursing Department, with the local Public Health Nurse (PHN) assessing the client to determine their individual needs. A personalised Care Plan is drawn up by the PHN and the Home Support staff deliver the required care accordingly. Personal Care is a key aspect of this service with some practical household assistance also provided. Health Care Support Assistant (HCSA) staff deliver care to over 7,400 clients in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare. These staff are a key part of local Multi-Disciplinary teams, providing an immensely valuable service to clients and their families in all communities across Cork and Kerry. The contact that the HCSA has with clients is a key factor in reducing isolation and loneliness while contributing to an enhanced quality of life for service users. |
